From an important evangelistic work in Samaria, God sent Philip to a desert to preach Jesus Christ to one man who was searching His Word. What a significant incident! God did not convert this eunuch by only reading the fifty-third chapter of Isaiah. He sent Philip to explain to him what was written in that chapter. Philip obeyed the Lord and asked the eunuch, “Do you understand what you are reading? And he said, Well, how could I, unless someone guides me?” (Acts 8:30-31).
“Philip opened his mouth, and beginning from this Scripture he preached Jesus to him” (Acts 8:35). In God’s plan a human instrument was needed. With the power of the Holy Spirit, Philip was the instrument in the hand of God to help open the eyes of the Ethiopian eunuch concerning the Savior Jesus Christ and salvation.
Philip became a missionary who was important and invaluable in explaining the Good News. Obedient to God’s command, “Philip went down to the city of Samaria and began proclaiming Christ to them” (Acts 8:5). Many people “believed Philip preaching the good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ” (Acts 8:12). And then, the Spirit of God led him to one individual in a desert. Afterward, Philip “kept preaching the Gospel to all the cities, until he came to Caesarea” (Acts 8:40). Today, God still uses missionaries just like Philip.
This is the reason why Slavic Missionary Service supports individuals in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova. Projects are important to promote when God’s Word is central; but people, who have invested their lives for the sake of the Gospel, are more important to assist in accomplishing God’s work in the world. Their personal understanding of salvation helps them to show the reality of Christianity.
Therefore, will you partner with us to support these foreign missionaries that are sharing the Good News of Salvation to areas where you cannot go and proclaim? Celebrating 85 years of service, you can trust that SMS is utilizing every donation in the most effective way for evangelism toward unbelievers and edification toward believers. God’s strategy for world evangelism calls for two equally important elements: Co-missionaries and Go-missionaries, the senders and the sent, the supporters and the workers. A Christian church without missionary enthusiasm is a contradiction. God depends upon the faithful testimony of His people for the evangelization of the world. The Savior expects those who have tasted the sweetness of salvation to spread the news far and wide. He has commissioned His children to share His Word to the lost in every country. |
